This past Saturday, I had the opportunity to experience a small portion of a phenomenal conference called “Wear Your Crown Kings & Queens, Empowerment Tour.” Before I even begin, I have to share my sentiments about movements like this. I can sincerely say I appreciate organizations with these type of platforms because it is geared towards encouraging, inspiring, and uplifting the youth.
Okay, a little info about this amazing conference. The “Wear Your Crown Kings and Queens, Empowerment” tour was a two-day conference held at Tri-Cities High School in East Point, Georgia. The conference specifically focused on targeting young men and women ranging from High School ages through College, however children and adults of all ages were present. On top of that, there was a plethora of celebrity guests, workshops, special vendors, paneled speakers, hair & makeup gurus, and meet & greets, just to name a few. The theme for this year not only focused on wearing your crown as a symbol of empowerment and strength, but it also provided the educational aspect which was definitely solidified. It’s a constant reminder to the youth that they have a voice, they have power, they have the courage to overcome the obstacles they may face in life. It was such a powerful message that I believe made in impact.
As the conference came to a close, the last and final culminating event of the night was the African Themed Fashion Show “A Night in Africa“. For those that know me, they already know I absolutely love anything and everything involving fashion. So you can only imagine the excitement I had when I found out there would be a fashion show as well. I couldn’t wait to view the pieces hitting the runway. I brought my camera to snap the moments. Unfortunately, I could only capture a few of the designer’s pieces before the battery on my camera decided to act up (Gosh, it was so annoying!). Nonetheless…I still had a great time and managed to capture a few of the lovely pieces off the runway. I was gushing over a few of my favorites. The designers definitely did a phenomenal job and came through with originality, uniqueness, and bold-colorful prints. The show also included the cutest tiny-tot fashionistas as they ripped the runway in the children’s segment of the show. It was so adorable and inspiring because it’s never too early or too late to pursue your dreams. The finale involved the models and designers taking the final walk on the runway to end the night.
All-in-all, the “Wear Your Crown Kings and Queens, Empowerment Tour” was amazing. There’s a great sense of respect and admiration for the people that invest their time imparting wisdom and guidance into our youth. Hats off to every single one of you! I look forward to more conferences in the near future.
