TRAVEL SPOTLIGHT: SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA

I recently traveled to San Francisco, California during the first part of June for my cousin’s graduation. Given that it was my first time traveling to there, I was super excited about it. The anticipation kept me on edge. I’d imagine that it would be just like I’ve seen it on television. People wearing summer clothes, skate boarding through town, saying things like “that’s rad, or totally knarly”. I’ve even pictured it like a scene from the MTV throwback show Laguna Beach. I know, I know, that’s pretty corny. Hey, what can I say, these are my views of what I thought the Cali experience would be like. But, it wasn’t quite that way. It was more that I thought. Gosh, California is such a beautiful place! Although my stay was short, I definitely maximized on my time there. As always, I want to share a few things about my experience.image

First off, to my surprise San Francisco’s temperature was quite chilly, comfortable, yet unusually chilly. I was warned before hand by my husband and other relatives to pack a jacket. I took it for face value and just thought there were exaggerating. Nonetheless, I packed a jacket just to be on the safe side. As soon as I landed and claimed my luggage. I took one step outside of the airport doors to wait for my ride, the cold air hit me unexpectedly. It took me a while to process that is was early June and cold. Weird I know! Needless to say, I was glad I took heed and packed a jacket. The view from my window was mesmerizing. I saw high mountains, houses on the hills, wide road, view of the Pacific Ocean. It was like a postcard. Very beautiful. I would definitely recommend traveling there. If you do decide to make that trip one day, here are a few things to know.

THINGS TO KNOW:

-Purchase tickets at a reasonable price. Average airline tickets can range between $300-$600 dollars.

-You can use your driver’s license to travel or a passport.

-San Francisco is a peninsula.

-Average temperature are in the Highs of 70s and Lows of 50s.

-Carry a jacket with you every time you step out. The temperature tends to drop unexpectedly

-Although there is a metro system in San Francisco, it seems more convenient to have a car. If you decide to visit, in my opinion, either rent a car, carry cash for a cab, or you can always call Uber.

MY EXPERIENCE:

-Drove on the Golden Gate Bridge and took pictures.

-Viewed the infamous Alcatraz Prison from the bridge.

-Drove past the “Full House” homes that is seen in the opening credits of the show.

-Viewed Multi-million dollar homes

-Drove to different parts of silicon valley

-Drove to the docking port where the ships were docked

-Took pictures of all the beautiful tall palm trees

-Dined at nice restaurants

-Visited the Mall

-Attended a graduation

I must say, I really enjoyed visiting California. I was on a mission to support my family member, so I didn’t really get to soak in San Francisco in it’s entirety. However, I do plan on traveling back really soon. When I do, I promise to give more detailed facts and dive a little deeper into my experiences.
