POP OF COLOR

Hello my Blessed and Chic friends! Happy Monday!

I wanted to share a few tips with you. Today I’m discussing the art of mixing different colors and prints to make a statement with your outfits.

First of all, I love the idea of mixing colors to bring an outfit together. That’s the beautiful thing about fashion, there’s no one rule on how to do it. Every single piece doesn’t have to be all matchy-matchy from head to toe all the time. Sometimes adding a pop of color could make your entire outfit standout. However, knowing how to do that is very important, otherwise you’ll end up with a mixture of hideous colors that will clash. Mixing colors and prints can be a risky thing to do when it comes to fashion. Knowing how to match different colors that can coordinate or compliment each other is important.

For today’s look, I thought I’d demonstrate that. I’m wearing a blue detailed dress that I purchased from TJMAXX a while back. The dress has 3D lace petals, floral prints, and a nude hue underneath to make the blue stand out more. When I decided to put this piece together, I wanted to wear a statement shoe that didn’t necessarily have the same color. Doing that would drown out the look entirely, and make it monochromatic, and that’s not what I was going for in this particular look. So, I decided to go with something a little bold…a hot pink taffeta poofy ball-tassled shoe that I thought was perfect for the look. (Side-bar, I was so happy I found these shoes at TopShop. Thought they were sold out. I’d been eyeing these bad boys for a few weeks now, contemplating back and forth on whether or not I should buy them. However a fellow blogger I follow and look up to, purchased the same shoes. She encouraged me to purchase them as well, and I’m so glad I did). I threw in the hot pink shoes to contrast the outfit, and you know what…it worked! The pink shoes popped out but didn’t take away from the entire look (at least in MY opinion, but, others may disagree, and that’s okay).

When mixing colors, go bold but not overboard. Make sure it works. It may take you a few times to get it right, but once you’re familiar with matching prints, hues, or colors, you’ll become a natural at it.

So go ahead and add a pop of color today.
